CHIMNEY FIRE December 28th - At 12:48 District 3 was alerted for a chimney fire on Westpoint Ave. Engine 253 arrived first, stretched a hoseline line into the structure. Upon their investigation, they found that a fire in the chimney had extended into the attic. Engine 253's crew extinguished the fire. Engine 251 arrived after and assisted in overhauling the residence. Further inquiry revealed that the homeowners had been trying to extinguish the fire on their own for over three and half hours. Mutual Aid was received from Fire District one to assist with roof operations and to provide additional manpower. The smoldering and stubborn fire was brought under control in approximately 2 hours.
