High Rise Fire Training
Sept 24 - On an early Saturday morning,
Engine 253, Ladder 25, and Cars 25 A & B departed Franklin Township
for the Somerset County Fire Academy for our high rise fire
training.
Our plans was to conduct five training
evolutions.
For the first three evolutions, the engine
crew practiced engine company operations, such as connecting to a
standpipe, and using it as the water source to
put out the fire, while the truck crew practiced search and
rescue operations. Since we emphasize cross training at Station 25,
for the 4th and 5th evolutions, the crews switched roles, with the
truckies using the hose, and the engine company searching the
building. Everyone in attendance agreed it was a great training
exercise, and we thank CVFC training officer and Assistant Chief
Mike Toth for setting it all up.

- At 1630, District 3 was dispatched to a reported Motor
Vehicle Crash Rollover with no entrapment. Car 25 responded and
arrived on scene, confirming no entrapment. While responding,
District 3 was dispatched for a second call, a fire alarm in town. Engine
253, which had been responding to the collision, was diverted from
the Easton Ave call to handled the second call. All units were
cleared in under 45 minutes.
Fire on Berry Street
Sept
13th
- Around 1700, District 3 was
dispatched for a reported structure fire at the intersection of
Berry Street and Spruce Street. Car 25B, Engine 253 and Ladder 25
responded to find the outer side of the structure burning. With the
majority of the fire knocked down prior to the arrival of the
engine, E-253's crew stretched a line to ensure the fire was
extinguished and overhauled the burnt area. Car 27B was the IC,
Asst. Chief Toth (Car 27B) was the operations officer. All Station
25 units cleared in 20 minutes, the cause of the fire is under
investigation by the Franklin Township Bureau of Fire Prevention.
