6 Probationary Firefighters Earn Black Shields

Dec 19th - Congratulations to Chris Fernandez, Adam Gonzalez, Ramey Packer, Amanda Smith, Dave Colin and Dan Heater for successfully passing the firefighter 1 course, held at Somerset County Emergency Services Academy. The 6 firefighters from our station have traded in their yellow probationary shields and have received their black engine company shields. Now that they have accomplished their basic fire training, they will gain valuable experience with the seasoned firefighters within the company. MVA on Easton Ave with Multiple Injuries

Dec 18th - 2:39 PM District 3 Fire was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving multiple people being injured.  Rescue 25 arrived on scene first with Truck Lt. Brian Whitaker establishing command.  Squad 27 also arrived on scene and pulled a line as a precaution.  27-A arrived and assumed Incident Command with Lt. Whitaker taking over Rescue Operations.  After the initial size up, Lt. Whitaker noticed a passenger door to one of the vehicles was unattainable. The crew of Rescue 25 then performed the door pop. Rescue 25 and Squad 27's crew along with EMS ended up extracting 1 patient, however there were over 8 people involved in this 2 vehicle accident in which most received BLS related injuries. Units on scene were Rescue 25, Squad 27 and Van 25.  The incident was cleared within 45 minutes.

MV/Structure Fire on Ralph St.

Dec 15th - At 10:30 this morning, District 3 Fire was dispatched to a motor vehicle fire at a Ralph St. residence in which the fire extended to the house.  Engine 253 arrived on scene first along with units from Franklin Township Fire Inspection.  The crew of Engine 253 arrived and tied into the plug and stretched off two 2" attack lines, one to the adjacent garage handled by E. Diaz and 2 FT Fire Inspectors and the 2nd line to the front entry with B. Sudo on the knob with 2 additional FT Fire Inspectors on that line. An aggressive attack was done in which the fire was quickly knocked down.  Chief 27-A assumed command of the scene.  New Brunswick Ladder 1 arrived as the first due truck and was assigned to vertically vented the roof. Other units on scene were, Ladder 25, Air 27. Engine 272, North Brunswick Co #3, Station 56 & Elizabeth Ave. Units on standby were Station 31 & Station 44.  Command was terminated in about 1 hour and 30 minutes.  Excellent Job on knocking down the fire quickly.  Thank You to District 3 Fire units from both stations as well as F.T.
