L.O.D.D CITY OF NEW BRUNSWICK

Nov 28th - It is with regret to announce the passing of New Brunswick Firefighter, Acting Lt. Van Liew.   This morning Acting Lt. Van Liew died shortly after arriving on duty at Engine Company #2.  Many of us here at Community as well as Fire District 3 as a whole have worked and come to know him for many years and we sincerely express our regrets for this stunning loss.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19-21 South Second Ave., Highland Park. Burial will follow at Van Liew Cemetery, North Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on today (Fri) at Quackenboss Funeral Home, 156 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Monastery, 26 Harmony School Road, Flemington, NJ 08822

New Speedy Dry Technician

 

Nov 20th - We would like to welcome our new probationary speedy dry technician to the company.  He comes equipped with the new latest and greatest speedy dry funnel tool, which comes with a complete set of instructions in two languages designed for even the no-brainers at hand.  After successfully completing training, our new speedy tech will be equipped and trained to handle any calls that may require careful placement of speedy dry material on roads and other surfaces when the situation calls for. 

 

 


Station 25 Extreme Makeover - Firehouse Edition

 

Nov 16th - It's Official, The building permits are in! Renovations on our firehouse has begun. During the next few months, the firehouse will be revamped to include a new workroom, which will be fully equipped with tools, a new chief office, a larger radio communications room, a brand new Heliport will be installed on the roof of the building to accommodate Helicopter 25, a museum/hallway which will feature the history of our department and the fire service, a large meeting room, a gymnasium with workout equipment and a host of other features which our department will surely benefit from.  In addition, we will be adding extra bays to accommodate a host of future apparatus to be housed in our station.  Keep checking back for updates on the progress of the construction project.

 

 


MVA-EXTRICATION ON JFK BLVD

 

Nov 5th - At approximately 7:02 PM, District 3 fire was dispatched for a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of  John F. Kennedy Blvd & Leupp Ln. in which a Mercedes ML SUV and a Volvo S60 collided requiring a door pop on the Volvo. While other District 3 units were arriving on scene, Rescue 25 arrived with a crew of 6, pulled out the combo tool and additional stabilizers and began to performed the door pop under the supervision of Chief Ries. Rescue 25's crew was able to pop the driver side rear and front doors so the patient could be extracted.
