Ladder-25 Responds to Highland Park for Mutual Aid Monday December 24th - Just after 18:30 hours, Ladder-25 was toned out to respond to the Boro. of Highland Park for a working structure fire. Shortly after the call, Ladder-25 called in service and responded to the Garden Apartments located at 512 Benner St. Upon our arrival the truck was directed around the block to the A/B corner of the structure to hold short of putting up the aerial to the building. After standing by, the crew then went inside the building for overhaul and to check for water damage and then cleared the scene around 20:00 hours. Room and Contents Fire Monday December 17th - At 0911 hours, District 3 Fire was toned out for a reported structure fire at 44 Miller Ave. Within minutes of the call a crew of 7 arrived at the station. Due to our Standard Operating Procedures within our district in which our ladder responds directly after the 1st Due Engine is in service, the crew of 7 decided to dispatch with Engine-253 driven by Engineer Lewis Pinnella, as first due since no other engines called in service at the time. Safety Officer Al Pinnella (25-S) arrived on scene to give a status to the first arriving engine. Engine 253 arrived on scene immediately thereafter and a 5" supply line handled by FF Doug Pritchard was laid to the hydrant. With Car-27 behind the engine, IC 27-A established command. A 2" preconnect was then pulled to the 2nd floor c/d bedroom where the fire was located and quickly knocked down. On the line was FF Elizabeth Diaz, FF Adam Gonzalez, FF Chris Fernandez also assisted by Erik Mickelsen with Franklin Township Fire Prevention. Also arriving on scene was the Special Operations Van-257 with a crew of 4. Once the fire was knocked down ventilation and overhaul was commenced by the engine company with other units also checking for further extension. The fire was then placed under control in which Station 25 units returned to quarters at 0952 hours. Command was terminated at 1014 hours. Units on scene were Engine-253, Special Operations-257, Car-27A/B, Squad-27, Engine-278, New Brunswick Ladder-1, Engine-1, Car-56 and Rescue-56 along with 99-C/C2. Line Officers Nominated For 2008 Friday December 7th - We are pleased to announce the nominated officers for 2008. Early AM Door Pop on Easton Ave Sunday December 2nd - At 0649 hours, District 3 Fire responded to Easton Ave & Bloomfield Ave for a MVA with Entrapment. Car-25 was first to arrive on scene and established command and alerted arriving units that a door pop would be needed. Rescue-25 with a crew of 5, performed the door pop while Squad-27 provided water suppression for safety precaution. All units cleared the scene within 30 minutes. |
