2007 Fire District 3 Awards Dinner Friday Jan 26th - Firefighters from our station attended the annual District 3 Awards Dinner. Enjoy the pictures. 2007 Installation of Officers Dinner Saturday Jan 20th - Community Volunteer Fire Company held its annual Installation of Officers Dinner at The Doubletree Hotel here in Franklin Township. Bob Amos served as Master of Ceremonies. Guests included the Mayor of Franklin Township, the Commissioners of Fire District #3, Franklin-Somerset First Aid Squad as well as from a few of our mutual-aid fire companies within Franklin Township. The ceremony started out with Fire District 3 Commissioner Vincent Inzano offering a few words followed by Chief of the Department, Richard Ries as well as the President of the Company, Louis Pinnella. This was soon followed by the dinner buffet. Afterwards, an inspiring PowerPoint slideshow was presented which reviewed this past 2006 year. Capt. Frank Inzano received the award for Officer of the Year. Bob Arnold received the award for 65 Years of Service to the Department. Matthew Reed received the President's Award for his efforts to the company. Then the Top 10 recipients received their awards for answering the most calls within the department for 2006. New members who graduated recently from Firefighter I were presented their fire 1 citation bars. Robert Amos won the Rear Officer Side Door Award for his humorous response efforts during the Wheeler Pl. Fire. After the awards were handed out, the Fireline was sworn into office. The dance floor was then opened up to everyone in attendance. The IOD Committee would like to thank everyone for attending and for making this a success. We wish everyone a safe 2007. Reported MVA During Standby @ Station Saturday Jan 13th - While standing by at quarters for the district one structure fire on Easton Ave, Chief Ries called into Somerset County Communications to report a MVA which was just half a block down from the station, on Douglas Ave and Hamilton St. Chief Ries then told us to respond with the engine and the rescue. 25-B and 25-R arrived on scene saw Firefighter/EMT Cesar Ovando and directed him to perform EMS duties until the squad arrived. Rescue 25 and Engine 253 helped Franklin PD block the streets for traffic control.
