Vehicle vs. Building Monday May 21st - At 13:02 hours, District 3 Fire responded to 1 JFK Blvd. Franklin Greens North Apartments for a reported Car into the building with extrication. Rescue-25 responded to the scene and upon arrival discovered that extrication was not needed at the time. The crew of Rescue-25 then assisted EMS with patient removal. All units cleared the scene with 30 minutes. Additional information on this story can be found on The Home News Tribune Website. Off to a Good Start Saturday May 19th - Today we attended the 100th Anniversary of the South Plainfield, NJ Fire Department with Car-25, Engine-251, Rescue-25 & Ladder-25. Car-25 driven by Chief Ries won 1st place for Best Overall Chief Vehicle and Rescue-25 which is only 2 days old won 1st place for Best Overall Rescue/Heavy Rescue. Also a congratulations goes out to the crew of Squad-27 who won 2nd Place for Best Overall Rescue/Heavy Rescue. 3 trophies in total for Franklin Township District 3 Fire. It's Finally Here!
Thursday May 17th - Tonight we took delivery of our new 2007 Spartan Chassis Detroit Diesel 8 Person Rescue Truck by Rescue One. Firefighters on hand at the station did a walkthrough of the truck to start becoming familiar with it's features as well as where the tools and equipment is located. Although our old Rescue 25 is still being housed in the building we are unsure of where it's final destination will be. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment. Car Fire on Carmen Street Saturday May 12th - District 3 Fire was dispatched to 46 Carmen St. for a reported car fire. Car-25 arrived on scene and confirmed the working car fire and requested that the first arriving engine prepare to stretch a line. Engine-253 arrived on scene and with the crew of 5, pulled a line to the fire and worked the tools to open the hood. Engine-278 also arrived on scene which brought in additional manpower. Engine-251 then arrived on scene however ended up diverting to Pine Grove Ave for a fire alarm which District 3 received about 12 minutes later from the initial tones of this call. All units cleared the scene within 30 minutes. Lightbars Replaced on E-1/E-3/L-25 Thursday May 3rd - Thanks to East Coast Lighting, the lightbars on Engine 25-1, Engine 25-3 & Ladder-25 has been replaced. With the new upgrades, all apparatus including Rescue-25 will look identical in accordance with our design specs. Finishing Touch on Rescue-25 Tuesday May 1st - Members of the Rescue Committee made their way down to the Rescue 1 facility to view the progress of our new heavy rescue truck that will be put into service shortly. We are slated to take possession of the new Rescue-25 on May 17th. Tools have been mounted on the truck and is currently undergoing the finishing touches before it is finally reviewed by the department as well as the district commissioners. We personally would like to thank the Commissioners of Franklin Township Fire District 3 for taking the time to come down to the facility to tour the vehicle and for their input on the design.
