About Community

WHO WE ARE

Community Volunteer Fire Company operates out of one station, and is identified as Station 25 by Somerset County. We proudly protect Franklin Township's Fire District #3. Our members are highly trained professionals, 100% volunteer, and extremely dedicated, answering over 500 calls a year. Our membership is composed of people from all walks of life, from mechanics, to Rutgers University students, to computer technicians, to carpenters, to business owners and executives, to anything you can imagine. Our members primarily come from Somerset New Jersey, however we have several active members who live in New Brunswick, as well as in the surrounding townships. We also have members who come from other counties to volunteer with us due to a fine reputation of being one of the best departments in the area. As a volunteer organization, we are always looking for new members, with no previous experience necessary. If you are interested in joining, or would like some additional information about our department, feel free to email Join@station 25.com, give us a call at 732-246-4822 during the evening, or stop by the station any evening during the week and ask to speak to the duty officer.

HOW WE OPERATE

Community Volunteer Fire Company operates a two piece engine company, 102 foot Tower Ladder and a Heavy Rescue company, as front line fire apparatus. We also have two Chief's vehicles and a special operations unit.

CVFC is one of the few volunteer departments that have a dedicated truck company, who train extensively on truck company operations as well as a dedicated rescue company. The rescue services we provide include motor vehicle extrication, high and low angle rescue, confined space rescue, and searching for trapped victims at structure fires.

We hold the distinction of being the only department in Franklin Township that has both a heavy rescue and tower ladder. We were also the first department in Franklin Township to operate an aerial device (the town now has three), and the first to operate a rescue truck.

WERE WE ARE LOCATED

Station 25 is located in Franklin Township, Somerset NJ, right in the heart of central New Jersey. Our first due area shares a border with the City of New Brunswick, and we are less than three minutes away from Rutgers University. Our coverage area includes Route 27, and is composed of a mix of residential and commercial residents, located in a densely populated suburban environment with a population of approximately 25,000 residents.

Franklin Township is protected by 10 departments divided into 4 separate fire districts. Our company resides in District 3.
